MoU signing between NetU and University of Cyprus

NetU is proud to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Computer Science Department of the University of Cyprus (CS-UCY).

NetU is proud to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Computer Science Department of the University of Cyprus (CS-UCY). The MoU was signed on the 23rd of November 2018 at University of Cyprus by the Chairperson of the Department of Computer Science, Professor Elpida Keravnou-Papailiou and the General Manager of NetU Mr. Demetris Nissiotis.

The purpose of the MoU is to provide the framework for collaboration between CS-UCY and NetU in the fields of provision of industrial know-how to CS-UCY students by NetU, participation in joint research proposals and the participation of NetU to the Industrial Affiliates activity of CS-UCY. This capacity will be implemented by joint efforts in the areas of teaching, research and applied experience. In that respect, the broad objective of this collaboration is to enable the dissemination of high-end know-how and technology transfer to the members of both CS-UCY and NetU so they can enhance their strategic position in today’s ever evolving field of Computer Science.

About the Department of Computer Science – University of Cyprus
Τhe Department of Computer Science (www.cs.ucy.ac.cy) as one of the first Departments of the University of Cyprus has graduated more than 1500 students so far. The Department has experienced significant growth over the last few years with strong groups in artificial intelligence, computer architecture, computer networks, data management, graphics and virtual reality, Internet computing, software engineering, system security and theoretical computer science. The Department offers a Bachelor degree in Computer Science with 7 different specializations as well as a number of Master degrees and a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science.The Department has a strong research infrastructure comprising high-performance clusters and storage area networks, cloud computing facilities, smart-phones and sensing devices and virtual reality equipment. Since 2005, the Department has been involved in more than 160 research projects funded from both the European Union and the Cyprus Research Promotion Foundation with total funding of over 21.5 million euros.
