NetU has successfully completed the implementation of an infrastructure project for the Unit for Combating Money Laundering (MOKAS) of the Law Office of the Republic of Cyprus. The project refers to the supply, installation, maintenance and support of a complete infrastructure solution for the needs of a wider project of the Law Office, for strengthening MOKAS capacities and improving its efficiency to detect serious crime, money laundering and financing of terrorism.
The main objective of the project is the automation of the analysis and investigation procedure of MOKAS, by implementing a sophisticated IT system for supporting its core activities. The project will assist MOKAS in enhancing its capabilities, with better use of available information and automatic recognition of relationships between data, information and suspects. In addition, it will enhance the cooperation with its foreign counterpart Units, Law Enforcement Agencies in Cyprus and abroad, as well as with reporting entities. Last but not least, the project will assist MOKAS in developing new policies, procedures and tools which are necessary for the prevention and combating of transnational organized crime and in particular money laundering and terrorist financing.
NetU has implemented a modern solution based on the latest technology from Hewlett-Packard and Microsoft. The project was awarded to NetU in August 2014 after an open tender procedure and was co-financed by the Norwegian Financial Mechanism and national funds.
